TPU Filament
IntermediateThermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU)
Flexible, rubber-like filament for grips, gaskets, and wearables
TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) is the go-to flexible filament. It feels and behaves like rubber — it bends, stretches, and bounces back. TPU is excellent for phone cases, shoe insoles, gaskets, bumpers, grips, and any part that needs to flex or absorb impact. It's more challenging to print than rigid filaments (it can buckle in the extruder), but a direct-drive printer handles it well.

TPU Filament — FAQ
Where can I buy TPU filament near Ogden or Roy, Utah?
Forgely Roy carries TPU filament at our walk-in store in Roy, UT — 5519 S 1900 W, Roy, UT 84067. Open Mon–Fri 11am–6pm, Sat 11am–3pm. We serve customers from Ogden, Layton, and all of northern Utah.
Can I print TPU on a Bowden printer?
It's difficult. TPU is flexible and tends to buckle between the extruder and hot end on Bowden setups. A direct-drive printer (Bambu Lab, Prusa MK4, Bambu A1 Mini, Voron) is strongly recommended. Our repair technicians can advise on upgrading your extruder setup.
What Shore hardness TPU should I buy?
Most general-purpose TPU filaments are 87–95A Shore hardness — flexible but not super soft. For phone cases and gaskets, 95A is a good all-around choice. For very soft, gel-like parts, look for 85A or softer. Come in and ask us — we can show you samples.
How do I stop TPU from clogging?
Print slower (20–30mm/s max), reduce retraction distance or disable retraction, and dry your filament before printing. Wet TPU is especially prone to clogs. If you're still having issues, our technicians can help diagnose the root cause.
Is TPU good for outdoor use in Utah?
Yes — TPU handles UV, water, and temperature fluctuations well. It's one of the better flexible materials for outdoor applications like outdoor furniture grips, garden clips, or weatherproofing parts.
